Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: September 2026

Welcome to The Next Chapter.

These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of our website and to purchases, sales and consignment services provided by The Next Chapter.

By accessing our website, purchasing an item, or submitting an item for consignment, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter is a curated fashion business specializing in pre-loved and premium fashion pieces.

Our collection may include clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories from a range of designer and premium brands.

As many of our products are pre-owned and unique, each piece may have its own history and signs of previous use.

2. Pre-Loved Products

All pre-loved items are carefully reviewed before being listed for sale.

Because our products have been previously owned, they may show reasonable signs of wear.

Where applicable, product descriptions will identify noticeable imperfections such as:

  • Marks or stains
  • Scratches or scuffs
  • Wear to fabric or leather
  • Discoloration
  • Signs of previous use
  • Missing or replaced accessories
  • Packaging or storage wear

Customers should carefully review the product description and photographs before purchasing.

Minor imperfections consistent with the described pre-loved condition will not generally be considered a fault.

3. Product Descriptions & Images

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, measurements, photographs and other information are accurate.

Colors may appear differently depending on your device, screen settings and lighting.

Because many products are one-of-a-kind, photographs shown on the website represent the actual item available for purchase wherever reasonably possible.

4. Authenticity

The Next Chapter takes reasonable steps to verify the authenticity of designer and branded products before listing them for sale.

We do not knowingly sell counterfeit products.

Where an item includes authenticity cards, certificates, dust bags, boxes, receipts or other original accessories, this will be stated in the product listing where relevant.

The absence of original packaging or documentation does not necessarily mean that an item is not authentic.

5. Pricing

All prices displayed on our website are in Australian dollars unless otherwise stated.

Prices may be changed at any time without notice.

A price change will not affect an order that has already been accepted and confirmed.

If an obvious pricing error occurs, we reserve the right to correct the error and contact the customer before processing the order.

6. Orders

When you place an order, you agree that the information provided is accurate and complete.

An order confirmation confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.

We reserve the right to cancel an order where:

  • The item is no longer available.
  • The item has been damaged or becomes unavailable.
  • There is an obvious listing or pricing error.
  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent activity.
  • We are unable to fulfil the order for another legitimate reason.

If your order is cancelled after payment has been received, the amount paid for the cancelled order will be refunded.

7. Payment

Payment must be successfully received before an order can be processed and dispatched.

We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.

You are responsible for ensuring that your billing and delivery information is correct.

8. Shipping & Delivery

Orders will be processed and dispatched within the timeframe stated on our website.

Delivery times may vary depending on your location, shipping method and the delivery provider.

Once an order has been handed to the shipping provider, delivery delays outside our reasonable control are not the responsibility of The Next Chapter.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

9. Returns & Exchanges

Due to the unique nature of pre-loved fashion, our return and exchange conditions may differ between products.

Unless otherwise stated, eligible items must be returned:

  • Within the stated return period
  • In the condition in which they were received
  • Unworn and unused
  • With original tags and packaging where applicable
  • With all original accessories included with the purchase

Items that have been worn, washed, altered, damaged or otherwise changed after delivery may not be eligible for return.

Please refer to our Returns & Refunds Policy for the full requirements.

Nothing in this section is intended to exclude your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Faulty or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that is significantly different from its description, faulty, damaged during delivery, or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide your order number and photographs of the issue where appropriate.

We will assess the issue and, where required by Australian Consumer Law, provide an appropriate remedy.

11. Sale Items

Sale, clearance or promotional items may be subject to specific conditions.

Any applicable restrictions will be stated at the time of purchase.

Nothing in these conditions affects your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

12. Consignment

The Next Chapter may accept selected pre-loved fashion items from customers for consignment.

Submitting an item does not guarantee that it will be accepted.

We reserve the right to decline any item at our discretion based on factors including condition, authenticity, brand, style, demand, seasonality and suitability for our collection.

13. Ownership of Consigned Items

By submitting an item for consignment, you confirm that:

  • You are the legal owner of the item or have authority to sell it.
  • The item is not stolen or unlawfully obtained.
  • The item is not subject to any third-party claim.
  • The information you provide about the item is accurate.
  • The item is authentic and not counterfeit.

You agree to notify The Next Chapter if any information relating to the item changes.

14. Consignment Agreement

Accepted items may be subject to a separate consignment agreement.

The agreement may specify:

  • The agreed selling price
  • The consignment period
  • The commission payable to The Next Chapter
  • The amount payable to the consignor
  • Payment arrangements
  • Price reductions or promotional arrangements
  • What happens if the item does not sell
  • Collection or return arrangements

Where a separate written consignment agreement applies, its terms will govern the specific consignment arrangement.

15. Consignment Pricing

The Next Chapter may recommend or agree upon a selling price for each accepted item.

Prices may be reviewed based on market conditions, demand, seasonality, condition and other relevant factors.

Any agreed pricing arrangements will be communicated to the consignor before the item is listed.

16. Consignment Commission & Payment

The Next Chapter will retain the agreed commission or service fee from the sale of each consigned item.

The remaining amount will be payable to the consignor in accordance with the applicable consignment agreement.

17. Unsold Items

If a consigned item does not sell within the agreed consignment period, the consignor may be required to collect the item or arrange its return.

Items not collected within the applicable timeframe may be subject to additional conditions outlined in the consignment agreement.

Please ensure your contact details remain current throughout the consignment period.

18. Damage to Consigned Items

The Next Chapter will take reasonable care of consigned items while they are in our possession.

However, reasonable wear associated with displaying, handling, photographing and storing items may occur.

Any significant damage or loss will be handled in accordance with the applicable consignment agreement and Australian law.

19. Website Content

All website content, including photographs, logos, graphics, text, product descriptions and designs, is owned by or licensed to The Next Chapter unless otherwise stated.

You may not reproduce, copy, modify, distribute or commercially use our content without written permission.

20. Website Availability

We aim to keep our website available and operating correctly. However, we do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted or free from technical errors.

We may temporarily suspend the website for maintenance, updates or other operational reasons.

21. Privacy

We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information provided when placing an order, subscribing to our newsletter or submitting an item for consignment will be handled in accordance with our applicable privacy practices.

22. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Where applicable, consumers are entitled to consumer guarantees in relation to goods and services.

These Terms & Conditions should be read together with those statutory rights.

23. Changes to These Terms

The Next Chapter may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The updated version will be published on this website with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Your continued use of the website after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms & Conditions.
